Night and Light and Half-Light
One tricky part about painting after dark is you can choose to either see your paint and canvas, or out the window, but not both at the same time. I will now demonstrate.
The image below is me with the lights on, so paint and canvas are marvellously visible. You may be shocked to hear that this photo was taken not with a mirror, but in the reflection of the window I had hoped to look out of!!(!)
And here is picture two, lovely window when the lights are generally off. Although canvas and paint are technically visible, it is near impossible to tell which colours are correct.
Maybe I'll paint it in the dark anyways some evening just for fun. Tonight however I was not in the mood for fun, and so instead I embraced my colour pedant and just turned the lights on and off periodically.
